The AAS degree plan in Cosmetology Instructor is designed to work with the Certificate Program. In addition to Cosmetology Instructor courses, the student will take freshman and sophomore level general education courses. These courses will help prepare the student for a career in Instruction. To be employed in education (i.e., at a community college or public high school), the AAS degree usually is required. The student who completes the AAS degree will have more opportunities for employment. The course of study on the full-time schedule is for students beginning the program in the fall.

Students in the Cosmetology Instructor Certificate program must complete all courses with a grade of “C” or better to graduate with the certificate.

Effective September 1, 2017, HB 1508 amends the Texas Occupations Code Section 53 that requires education providers to notify potential or enrolled students that a criminal history may make them ineligible for an occupational license upon program completion.  Program specific information will be provided in course syllabi.
